April Love Day 30: Thank you for…

unconditional love…

And that is it for April Love!  I hope you guys have enjoyed it!

What are you thankful for today?

April Love Day 21: A happy memory

Given how much I talk about my dogs, this shouldn’t be a surprise.  🙂

This was taken the first year I had Hank, with my old school SLR.  He was running around like crazy and would stop for a second, then take off again.  That must have gone on for an hour, until he fell asleep.  It made me laugh so hard.

The train brays softly in early morning; it’s whistle muted by the driving rain on the rooftops.  It it is running 3 minutes late today, but I wonder if I’m the only one who will ever know.  The dogs have surrendered once again to sleep, their enthusiasm for the 2am walk dashed by wet paws and swelling puddles.  The Christmas tree glows so beautifully this time of day, it makes my little spot in this world feel all the warmer, somehow more like home.

The whistle is sounding again…still 3 minutes late.  Pouring rain, snores and snuffs are my soundtrack.

What’s yours?

And the beat goes on…

I’m not the best friend.  If I’m confused, hurt, in pain, trying to make hard decisions, whatever the case might be, I go quiet…withdraw from people really, until I’ve figured out my course of action.  Some people need to bounce ideas around, talk to family or friends and get their opinions, etc…I am not one of those people.  I only want to listen to my heart, roll things around in my head, figure out what I think without outside influences.

So that’s where I’ve been for the last couple of months.  My plan had been to take September off and hop back in around October, but Hank, my beagle, began to show signs that he had slipped or burst another disk in his back.  So we were back to pain meds and crate rest and another huge question: another surgery or is it time to let nature take it’s course?

So we’re heading into December, and I’m intensely grateful that Hank is still here with me.  I’m keeping him as comfortable as possible for as long as possible – no surgery – and for now he has more good days than bad.  I’m keeping my fingers crossed that he stays that way for a while.

So now I’m easing back into the blog.  Susannah Conway is doing ‘December Reflections,’ so expect some pictures in the coming days.  Should be fun.  Hope you all had a lovely Thanksgiving weekend.

Love is…

Love is napping puppies.

Love is Hank’s wet nose nudging my foot because he wants me to take him outside.

Love is Heidi’s tail thumping loudly whenever I speak to her.

Love is two little noses peaking through the crack of the front door when I get home in the evening.

They are my ‘first thing in the morning’ and my ‘last thing before bed.’  I strive every day to be the person they seem to believe that I am, and I hope they know that I love them as much as they love me.

And that is August Break 2014 completed guys – thirty one days, thirty one posts, and one goal accomplished!  Thank you to everyone who liked, followed, and commented.  Catch you tomorrow with what I’ve learned from all of this.
