Twinkle and Glow

I’m way behind on December Reflections, but I am a firm believer in being gentle with yourself around holiday time.

Day 1: Drink

Brought to you by nostalgia and the fact that I only drink two things: water and Diet Coke.  I need to find a good recipe for vegan hot chocolate for this time of year!

Day 2: Lights

My favorite things about this time of year, bar none, are the twinkle lights.  On trees, wreaths, porches, what have you – I think they are so beautiful.  It was watching my lights last night (with some help from Susannah) that led me to my word for 2015.

This is the first time that I’ve thought about picking a word for the coming year and I went through a lot of possibilities: peaceful, radiant, calm, delight, grace.  The word I finally chose was glow – to me, it means lit from within…radiant and luminous, but with a softer edge.  Glowing with inner strength, glowing with exuberance, shining but with a calmness and generosity of spirit.  I’ll turn 40 in 2015, and I feel closer to the essence of who I am than I ever have in my life…glow seemed appropriate.

What’s your word for the new year?
