Day 29: My eyes

Hi everyone!  Is it just me or does today feel like Thursday?  I’ve been thinking tomorrow was Friday all day.

One more day until the end of April Love!  Many thanks to Susannah for dreaming this up; it’s been a lot of fun.

April Love Day 20: My scent

I have super sensitive skin…I can’t wear makeup, sunscreen, or any fragrance.  For better or worse, I usually end up smelling like outdoors or something I have eaten.  Today, I smell like rain.  This was the sun after the monsoon I got caught in.  🙂

What is your favorite scent?

April Love Day 18: Sweet

I used to be a big dessert person…I’m more into fruit now, but I still have my go-to treats on occasion.  My all-time favorite treat is a handful of vegan chocolate chips and a spoonful of natural peanut butter, stir and microwave for about 30 seconds.  My second is this:

I only get it about twice a year, so as to savor every single bite.  I let it get nice and soft, and the chocolate/peanut butter combination just explodes across my tastebuds.  So amazing!

What is your favorite sweet treat?

Day 8: From where I stand

Where I stand right now is currently HOT.

Yes, 81 is the indoor temperature of my condo right now, in spite of two continuously running fans.  It’s the hottest day of the year so far and the landscapers at my complex have buried my AC condenser unit in dirt and mulch 8 inches deep.  Needless to say, I can’t use the AC until they dig it out tomorrow.  Keep your fingers crossed for me people – this could be a long night.

Day 3: Inspiring quote

This is on the front of my current journal:

It is from the front page of The Arches, which is the magazine of the University of Puget Sound.  A lot of people would equate being humbled with being defeated in some way, but I’ve never thought of it like that.

It’s quiet here tonight – the heat of the day is dissipating and so the dogs are dozing out on the front porch…a fitting end to such a frenetic week.

How are you winding down your week?

And here we are…10 things

My last day of freedom before returning to work (full days)…it’s bittersweet, I’m not going to lie.  If the last two weeks are anything like what retirement will be, sign me up immediately because I can’t wait.  Before we all get dunked back into the icy waters of the 40 hour workweek, a 10 stat rundown of my winter break:

  • Half days worked:     8 – otherwise my office would have exploded.
  • Hikes taken:     3, two in Piedmont Park and one on the new Beltline
  • Pictures taken:    105, that’s a lot of pictures for me
  • Biggest accomplishment:     I cleaned the bed off!  Still not sure why I keep the bed, since I sleep on the couch.
  • Power outages:     1 – my first ever in this place and I’ve lived here for over 3 years.
  • Episodes of Dead Files watched:     All of the ones on Netflix, lol…around 40-45?
  • AMC giftcards received for Christmas:     10 – I’m set until my birthday!

What will you miss most about your time off? (question courtesy of my sis)

  • Truly easing into every day.  I’d spend 30-45 minutes every morning writing in my journal, then take each dog for a long walk.  No stress, no running around, no media of any kind – I loved it.  If I could find a job that allowed me mornings like that every day, I’d be so grateful.

Favorite picture of 2015 so far:

It’s also the first picture I took…I’d just walked the dogs, so it must have been around 2:30-3am on 1/1/15.  It just makes me laugh.

Favorite picture taken over the break:

This was taken on 12/26/14.  The sky was just amazing that afternoon.

Happy Sunday everyone.  See you back in the coal mines tomorrow.
